About Me

Hello, my name is Thomas Hassett, and I am a sophomore at the University of Maine, majoring in Business with a minor in Leadership. When I first started college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study, but after taking a leadership class with Professor LaRochelle, I discovered a passion for the subject and decided to make it my minor. My blog focuses on high school basketball, specifically the Orono and Old Town teams. I interview student-athletes to get their perspectives on high school sports and their future aspirations. Through this blog, I hope to give a voice to young athletes and share their stories with the community. My goal in this journalism class is to expand my knowledge and apply it to the business world—whether through crafting effective advertisements or building meaningful connections through interviews. I chose this blog because I have played sports my whole life throughout high school and would love it whenever people would be reporting our games since it made us feel like we were actual stars.​
